Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Tour

Ngamba Island, located in Lake Victoria, is part of the Koome group of islands and serves as a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees. Home to 49 chimpanzees rescued from illegal traders, the island provides them with a safe and nurturing environment. During your visit, you’ll learn about the chimpanzees’ diet, their social behavior, and even have the chance to feed them. The tour offers an enriching experience, where you can interact with the caretakers and gain insight into the island’s conservation efforts.

Your day begins with an early breakfast before a scenic drive to Entebbe, where you’ll board a boat for the 1.5-hour cruise to the island. As you enjoy the refreshing breeze and the stunning views of Lake Victoria, you’ll be greeted by the vibrant staff at Ngamba Island. After a briefing and an introduction to the chimpanzees, you’ll spend the day observing and learning about the chimps. A delicious lunch is served before you make your way back to Entebbe and return to your accommodation in Kampala.
