Ruhija Gorilla Friends Lodge is a community-initiated eco-project located in Ruhija Village, adjacent to the eastern edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The lodge offers a mix of safari tents and rooms, ranging from self-contained doubles to budget-friendly non-self-contained singles and triples. Guests enjoy stunning views of the forest, especially at sunrise when the mist lifts over the canopy.
A spacious dining hall and bar serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a full selection of cold drinks including beers, wines, spirits, sodas, and water. Complimentary breakfast is included for guests staying in safari tents and self-contained rooms.
The lodge is ideally located for tracking Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families — Bitukura, Oruzogo, and Kyaguriro — with trailheads nearby. Guests can also enjoy community walks, forest exploration, and birdwatching, making it a well-rounded base for eco-tourism.
Facilities include a dining hall, bar, leveled camping ground, tent hire, and housekeeping. The lodge emphasizes affordability, sustainability, and community benefit, with proceeds supporting local development initiatives.
