Mount Gahinga Lodge, opened in 2002 by Praveen Moman, was the first lodge built in the Virunga region and remains a premier base for gorilla tracking, golden monkey trekking, volcano climbing, and Batwa cultural encounters. The property features hand-built bandas inspired by the aesthetic traditions of the Bafumbira people, each with an ensuite luxury shower room, fireplace, and private porch. Two new deluxe bandas have recently been added, complementing the remodeled lounge, dining room, and gardens.
